Las Salty Muxeristas: Through the cursed ‘VID, and without its existence-defining live music side stolen away, The Aviary has been keeping the candle burning with pickup cocktail (and picnic table construction) services. But that little flame turns white-hot Saturday with a pay-what-you-can, Salvadorian pop-up sandwich sale, 100% of proceeds going to BIPOC advocacy and support group Prairie Sage Protectors. With crunchy vegetables, these sandwiches look mind-bogglingly delicious, but besides that, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved and do something tangible to help redefine the sort of society we want to live in together.
Details: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at The Aviary (9314 111 Ave.)
Eat & Seek: Speaking of food with benefits, the ever-innovative Kingsway Mall has unveiled its latest immersive project, an outdoor design installation called Eat & Seek featuring colourful umbrellas, twisted hopscotch, word games and pandemic seating for 80. The space was designed and executed by Edmonton’s Chris Provins of Studio Bramble and awesome Calgary muralist Naomi Wolf — a perfect place to take those Shumka perogies and gobble them up in the open air. Just watch out for the excitable seagulls!

A Conversation with Women in Politics: Delightfully pan-party, on Thursday EPL is hosting a discussion with current and former MLAs Rajan Sawhney, Janis Irwin and Laurie Blakeman about their experience as women in politics. They’ll discuss how they got started, successes and challenges, and their suggestions for a more equitable future for women interested in entering the field. The event will be moderated by CBC’s Adrienne Pan, and is part of YWCA’s Searching for Izena campaign, raising awareness about Edmonton’s first female city councillor, elected in 1921.
Details: 7 p.m. Thursday on EPL’s Crowdcast page, www.crowdcast.io/e/a-conversation-with-10, no charge
