Hamilton firefighters and Food for Kids’ charity dropped off some prize money to the winning schools in the ‘Eat a Beet’ challenge
The money was awarded to the schools with the best participation in a social media challenge, where students created a video or photo showing themselves eating a beet.
St. Michael Catholic elementary school won the top prize of $3000. Franklin Road elementary came second winning $2000 and Spring Valley school came third winning $1000.
The Eat a Beet challenge has raised over $41 000 to help feed hungry children.
