Tesco is bringing back their Kids Eat Free scheme throughout the half-term holidays, to help families with the cost of living.
Parents need to buy something worth 60p and show their Clubcard to qualify for their children’s meal, worth up to £3.50.
The deal will be available at all the supermarket’s 311 cafés across the UK.
Valid from Monday, May 29, to Friday, June 2, the initiative will be running in a bid to “support families” who need some extra help during the time kids are off school, the supermarket giant said.
Tesco UK CEO Jason Tarry said: “We know that household budgets can be stretched over the school holidays, so we are pleased to once again be offering free meals to children when they’re off school as another way to support families during this half-term.”
The Tesco cafés will be offering one free hot meal deal, a kids’ breakfast, or a kids’ ‘pick n mix’ deal with each item bought by an adult which costs 60p or more. The same deal was also offered in the February half-term by the chain.
Adults must also show a Tesco Clubcard at the till to qualify.
Items available on the breakfast menu include beans on toast, avocado on toast, and pancakes with blueberries while, for lunch, children can have mac and cheese, sausages, fishfingers, or chicken goujons.
Also available are crisps and sandwich deals, with vegetable and fruit sides.
The full menu can be found here.
Tesco is not the only supermarket chain to offer children cheaper meals during the holidays.
Fellow supermarket giant Asda has also extended its cheaper kid meal options for the half-term holidays.
The ‘Kids Eat for £1’ scheme will be running and will allow youngsters to order food, such as pasta and meatballs, veggie pasta, fishfingers and nuggets, alongside a piece of fruit.
Asda chief commercial officer Kris Comerford said: “We know that, when families are preparing for half-term, it can often mean an additional strain on household budgets.
“Since the launch of our kids £1 café meal deals in June 2022, we continue to see a significant increase in the number of meals we serve during the school break, and we are proud to be able to continue to provide a lifeline to families by extending the offer to cover the May half-term holidays.”
