Dog Refuses to Eat Food Until His Owners Use 'Gourmet' Cooking Techniques - PEOPLE

Bleu the dog won’t eat just any kibble.

One of his owners, Daniel McAfee, shared a video via Storyful demonstrating the California canine’s sophisticated palate.

In the clip, the silver Weimaraner shows no interest in his bowl of dry food until creative culinary techniques are applied.

“Time for a gourmet meal,” one of his owners announces.

The pooch then watches as McAfee proceeds to “heat” the bowl on a cool stovetop and pretends to squeeze lime juice over the kibble.

“And then we’ll pour absolutely none of this in here,” he says as he pulls a carton of Silk oat milk from the fridge and shakes it over the bowl, cap still on.

For the final touch, the pet parent opens and closes the microwave door and then proclaims, "Voila!" Now intrigued, Bleu follows him out of the kitchen and sits to gobble up his meal.

McAfee told Storyful he uses a "kibble enhancement recipe" where he "adds absolutely nothing" to get his dog to eat up.

Another dog with fussy eating habits recently went viral for her owners' ritual of pretending to "season" her dog food with salad dressing.

In a video posted on TikTok, Zoey, a 14-year-old goldendoodle, can be seen refusing her food bowl until a (closed) bottle of ranch dressing is waved over it, upon which the food in the bowl seemingly becomes more appetizing.

"Senile dog problems," the dog's owner, Michelle Metrailler, captioned the post, which has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

"Zoey is on prescription food for her sensitive stomach, so she usually needs wet food on top," Metrailler, who lives in Toronto, told PEOPLE.

"We ran out of her canned food, so we were trying to fool her to eat her kibble without introducing anything that could cause her to have tummy troubles," she added of the ranch dressing trickery.

When Zoey celebrated her 14th birthday, Michelle and her husband, Connor, pretended to shake cake sprinkles on her food. However, the canine didn't fall for it.

"She prefers the essence of ranch," Michelle said.
